Type words as they appear. Any typos you make will go into the "shame bag". If the shame bag fills up, the abbot will awaken, and you lose! But don't worry, Titivillus, the demon of typos and mistakes, is here to "hlep!" He'll take the typos from the shame bag and add them to the words you need to type. Po Nroblem!

Escape key to pause.

You can type buttons instead of clicking them. No mouse required!

Oh heck yes. My son and I spent some time playing through this game. The demonic difficulty was too much for us – we got wrecked! But the default difficulty we could keep up with and had a blast with.

I think my favorite part is when the monk says, "So if I don't make any mistakes there's nothing to worry about"...and then something happens that I won't mention here due to spoilers, but suffice it to say it was hilarious.

Very well done, and the art looks great. Loved it.

Thank you so much! And yeah... demonic is essentially impossible. I was aiming at something competitive speed typers would find challenging which is... a bit of a high bar. I've considered backing off on it, but I think an ill-considered design decision tormenting players is perfectly on theme for this game. ;)

Thanks again!

I don't think it's ill-considered at all. It was absolutely fun to try that level of the game. Just because we weren't able to keep up doesn't mean it's not fun – just trying to see how long you can last at that level is kinda fun on its own!

Incredible game! I consider myself to be a fairly skilled typist and this was still a fun challenge.

Very fun game, love the art and humor. I found it from the Tom Scott news letter! If you don't follow it this is what he wrote about it:

Titivillus Teaches Typning [sic] is a lovely little in-browser typing game that's themed to look like an illustrated manuscript. It has a lovely twist: if you hit the wrong keys, the demon of typos will store your incorrect letters in its shame bag and add them to later words. This is a combination of joyful, stressful, and beautiful.

Thanks for the kind words, and also thanks so much for letting us know where you came from. We're huge Tom Scott fans (although not huge enough to know about a newsletter, apparently :), so that callout means a lot to us.

Really fun and well done!

I was curious to discover what the magic words were and if there would be a win scenario where the work is completed :D

Thank you so much! A win scenario would be pretty great. It could be something like a lavishly-illustrated manuscript page with complete nonsense in it from the words you typed in the level.

I think canonically, Devin and I decided that the demon failed to provide a printer and so the monk's typing work was stuck on the computer until printers were invented in 1950ish or so. We never included this bit in the game. So, if we revisit the game we may have to include that little joke. :)

Also you bring up a good point, on easier difficulties it is apparently possible to play the whole Magic Word level without actually encountering any Magic Words, so try upping the difficulty and hopefully a Magic Word will show up this time!

Thank you again for playing, and for all your hard work showing people how to use Spine!
